PostSubject: Convert 1080 50/60p AVCHD to 30p/25p ProRes for getting to FCP    Convert 1080 50/60p AVCHD to 30p/25p ProRes for getting to FCP Icon_minitimeMon Aug 06, 2012 4:31 am

Do you like recording 1920*1080 @60fps (1080/50p for PAL) videos by using Panasonic HC-X800, HC-X900, HDC-TM900, Sony NEX-F3, NEX--VG20, NEX-5N, etc AVCHD Camcorders? If so, you may know that 1080 50p/60p MTS/M2TS footages can't be edited in Final Cut Pro 6/7 or FCP X. When you Log and Transfer to import them to FCP, you can't see the clips in the windows because FCP can't handle 60 full frames. Then how to make 1080 60p editbale for FCP?

We have to convert convert 60p/50p AVCHD to cofortable frames 30p or 25p with the best Codec of FCP. Thus we can transcode 1080 60p/50p AVCHD to ProRes with a converter tool. Then we can get thses Full HD AVCHD files supported by FCP. It seems so easy to do this. In fact, the most important is that how to choose a top AVCHD to ProRes Converter. You can go to Google and download a professional AVCHD MTS/M2TS Converter for FCP. The tool should transcode AVCHD to ProRes 422/444 at a fast speed keeping the perfect video quality. I have used the powerful MTS to FCP Converter to get my 60p/50p AVCHD files converted to 30p/25p ProRes MOV files with high quality by following listed steps. You can follow it to have a try. You will be surprised at the fast conversion process and excellent quality.

1: Free download and install the best AVCHD to ProRes 422 Converter on Mac, then load 60p/50p MTS files to it;

2: Click the Format box to select the output format from Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), ProRes 422, ProRes 422 (LT), ProRes (Proxy) and ProRes 4444. It depends on what you attach importance to.

Tips:
a. ProRes 422 (HQ): offers the utmost possible quality for 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 sources and provides target data rate of approximately 220 Mbps and higher quality than Apple ProRes 422;
b. ProRes 422: provides target data rate of approximately 145 Mbps and higher quality than Apple ProRes 422 (LT);
c. ProRes 422 (LT): provides roughly 70 percent of the data rate of Apple ProRes 422 (thus, smaller file sizes than Apple ProRes 422) and higher quality than ProRes 422 (Proxy);
d. ProRes 422 (Proxy): provides roughly 30 percent of the data rate of Apple ProRes 422 and high-quality offline editing at the original frame size, frame rate, and aspect ratio;
e. ProRes 4444: offers the utmost possible quality for 4:4:4 sources and roughly 50 percent higher than the data rate of Apple ProRes 422 (HQ).

3: Adjust video and audio parameters in Profile Settings, where you can get by clicking Settings on the main interface.

Tip: For 1080/60p recordings, 1920*1080 as video size, 30fps as video bitrate and pcm-s16le as audio codec are the most suitable settings. If you are in PAL(50p) area, you are recommended 25fps as video bitrate.

4: Click the arrow button to start converting 60p/50p AVCHD footages to ProRes for FCP immediately.

Other features of the MTS/M2TS to FCP Converter:
1. Joining files: Tick the box "Merge into one" on the main interface.
2. Preview: Double click on the file and you can get a preview on the converter.
3. Auto shutdown: Click Option and tick the box “Shut down the computer after conversion” before conversion starts.
4. 3D conversion. The Red-Blue/Red-Green 3D conversions are supported.
5. Crop: Edit --> Crop and you can get the imported videos cropped as you want.

When the 1080 60p/50p to 30p/25p conversion is 100% completed, you can ingest or put your 1080p AVCHD recordings into FCP with no problem. Please link to Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac to get more info.
