This is simply the movie industry’s latest attempt to sugar coat Digital Rights Management(DRM), which prevents you from using them on unauthorized devices. Unfortunately, the Android devices have not get a license to play DRM contents, which means digital copy movies will even play on Android tablet or handset. It is a pleasure that 20th Century Fox is aiming to change all that and will be bringing digital copy downloads to Android but I didn’t hear much about it.

The reasoning behind Android’s omission in the digital movie realm can be speculated and theorized till DRM death. That’s where ChewTune Mac (Alternative Windows Version) comes in. As an easy-to-use yet top-ranking DRM removal software for Mac users, it supports handling proctected movies, TV shows from iTunes and Blu-ray/DVD digital copy videos that have been transferred to iTunes. Frankly, ChewTune Mac is a great app for keeping your iTunes movie library synced to your Android tablet and handset. I’ve had success using the program to transfer Digital Copy and iTunes movies/TV shows from Mac to my Android-based Google Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy S3. I’ve found the quality to be excellent, and see no difference when compared to playing the digital copy movies themselves.

The software works like most other Converters I’ve used. The only thing to keep in mind is that using this software, you’ll need to “set iTunes to 32bit if you are running Mac OS X (Mountain) Lion” and “run the program and type in password of your Mac account as it requires” if you used it first time.

The DRM removal process:

Run ChewTune mac, drag and drop digital copy movies from iTunes to the software.
Select an Android friendly format, e.g. H.264 .mp4 for conversion. There are optimized format for Google Nexus 7, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Note (10.1), Xoom, Asus Transformer Prime TF201/TF700/TF300, Acer Iconia Tab, Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, HTC One X, Galaxy S3 and also for HP Touchpad, PlayBook etc. Basically the “Common Video > H.264 Video (*.mp4)” is an universal format for Android tablets and smartphones.
Click the big Convert button to transfer Digital Copy to Android tablet/phone supported videos.

So there you have it. Pretty simple. In this way, you can easily get iTunes Digital Copy movies and your Android to play nicely.

Digital Copy is an extra feature. It’s not a trick. But, it’s still not clear where the dividing line is between your fair use of your media and their rights to control your use. What we really need is for the movie industry to move into the 21st century and allow people the right to view and use their movies any way they want. If you’re a windows user, you can follow the tutorial – converting Digital Copy for Android to achieve your goal smoothly.
I hope you enjoyed my guide and enjoy your synced up Android with iTunes!
