Are you a Sony Handycam HDR-CX130 user? If so, you should know it can record Full HD (1080 60p) AVCHD videos. If you also like editing movies to share with friends or family, you may know that 1080 60p (1080/50p in Europe) MTS recordings from Sony CX130 can't be edited in some Video Editing Softwares including FCP/FCE/iMovie. The reason is that the 1080p@60pfs AVCHD is a high compression format and some Video Editing Softwares can't surpport it well.

From Google, I found some users wanted to know how to import HDR-CX130 1080/60p AVCHD to iMovie. As far as we know, AVCHD is not the natively supported video format of iMovie, but Apple InterMediate Codec is. To make your Sony MTS/M2TS files work well with iMovie, you need to transcode files to Apple Intermediate Codec, which is recommended for use with all HD workflows in iMovie by using a top MTS Converter for iMovie.

Here the best AVCHD to AIC MOV Converter is highly recommend to you. With it, you are able to convert Sony CX130 AVCHD MTS to iMovie fully supported video format AIC on Mac OS X keeping original video quality. I have used it to convert many 1080 60p footages to 30p or 60i on my MacBook many times with fast speed. And the conveted video quality is perfect. Below are the easy steps.

1) download and install the Mac MTS/M2TS Converter for iMovie on your Apple computer and then launch the program to add Sony CX130 MTS/M2TS videos to it.
Tip: If you wanna join MTS/M2TS files for easier editing in iMovie, please check the "Merge into one" box.

2) click on Format > iMovie and Final Cut Express > Apple Intermediate Codec(AIC) (*.mov), which is the iMovie most compatible video format/codec. Afterwards, set the output folder as you like or just keep the default one.

3) click the “Settings” icon and you’d better set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 for putting Sony CX130 mts/m2ts into iMovie for further editing with the best frame rate setting.

4) click the “Convert” button; this professional Sony AVCHD to iMovie Converter will start the Sony HDR-CX130 AVCHD to iMovie conversion on Mac OS X immediately. You can find the process in the “Conversion” interface.
